5 Days Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari

This 5-day safari takes you deep into Uganda’s most popular park, Queen Elizabeth National Park. Famous for its tree-climbing lions, diverse wildlife, scenic crater lakes, and the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, the park offers a true African safari experience. From big game drives to chimpanzee trekking and cultural encounters, this adventure blends nature, wildlife, and community in one unforgettable journey.
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in either Entebbe or Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy an optional short city tour, exploring Entebbe’s botanical gardens or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. The evening will be for relaxation and a safari briefing with your guide.
After an early breakfast, begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The scenic drive takes you through the Equator crossing at Kayabwe (perfect for photos), rolling tea plantations, and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Arrive in the park by afternoon and check into your lodge before heading for your first game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. Expect to see elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, giant forest hogs, and prides of lions preparing for the evening hunt. Birders can spot pelicans, storks, and hornbills along the open savannah.
Wake up early for a sunrise game drive across Kasenyi Plains, the best time to see predators returning from the night’s hunt. With luck, you might encounter lions, hyenas, leopards, and herds of elephants and buffalo. Antelopes, waterbucks, and warthogs are common sightings too.
Return to your lodge for breakfast and relaxation. After lunch, embark on the famous Kazinga Channel boat cruise, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. This slow-moving boat ride is one of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth, offering close-up encounters with hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and hundreds of water birds, including cormorants, African fish eagles, and kingfishers.
After breakfast, transfer to Kyambura Gorge, often called the “Valley of Apes.” Accompanied by park rangers, descend into the underground forest where you’ll search for habituated chimpanzees. While sightings are not guaranteed, the gorge itself is a spectacular natural wonder with rich biodiversity.
Later, enjoy lunch before heading to Lake Katwe, a traditional salt-mining lake. Here, you’ll meet local miners and learn how salt has been harvested for centuries using traditional methods. The lake’s shimmering salt pans and crater surroundings make for great photography.
After breakfast, check out and drive southwards through the Ishasha sector, famous for its unique population of tree-climbing lions. Seeing these magnificent cats draped lazily across fig tree branches is a rare spectacle found only here and in Tanzania’s Lake Manyara.
After the game drive, continue your return journey with a lunch stop in Mbarara. Later, pause at the Equator for photos and craft shopping before reaching Kampala/Entebbe in the evening. This marks the end of your 5-day Queen Elizabeth safari.
